Just discovered a great new tool called Protonotes for annotating websites. Just add a small snippet of code to the header of any webpage, and annotate that page using ‘sticky’ like notes.

“Protonotes are notes that you add to your prototype that allow project team members to discuss system functionality, design, and requirements directly on the prototype. You can think of it like a discussion board/wiki in direct context of your prototype.”

I am experimenting using it for customer feedback on website design commissions. There is a RSS feed which, if subscribed to in Apple Mail, automatically informs you when notes have been added or updated.

Skitch is a Mac only application which allows you to grab a picture of anything you can see on your screen. You can annotate the picture and then email it or post a URL link. I use it for clarifying design details with customers when working on their websites.

There are several other similar applications available, but Skitch is my favourite. Have a look at the introduction video.
